Avionne G. Ruffin, M.ED
Personal Experience & Biography
I am a native of the island of Trinidad and Tobago,a third world country. My parents always pushed the privilege of having a free education and living the American dream.
I received my under graduate degree in Social Work from Alabama State University in 2004. I practiced Social Work for two years, but wanted more. I went back to school for my first Masters Degree in Education in 2007 at Alabama State University.
Later that same year, I found my calling when I began working here at Second Chance Foundation. I was able to teach without standardized restrictions, so I became a strong advocate of hands-on learning, inquiry-based learning, problem-solving activities, and technology-infused activities that provide my students with opportunities to learn differently. In 2013, I received my second Masters in Special Education to better assist my students with special needs.
I like to encourage young people to think outside the box and follow their dreams, no matter how great.
